The top multi state operators in the United States achieved huge revenue growth in 2021 compared with the previous year because they expanded in high growth markets and filled the gap in their geographical footprint through small and large acquisitions. Chicago based green thumb industries and Florida based trulieve cannabis managed to turn losses into profits in 2021. In contrast, several companies, led by cresco labs, headquartered in Chicago, and Columbia care, headquartered in New York, reported huge losses due to increased production, new stores and additional licenses or operations in key markets. Based in Massachusetts, curaleaf holdings maintains a leading position among multi state operators in the United States, with revenue of $1.2 billion in 2021. However, according to the fourth quarter revenue of $305.3 million, trulieve's annual revenue operation rate is now comparable to that of curraleaf. Cresco is expected to stand out in the merger with Columbia care, with the highest or near highest revenue among multi state operators in the United States.
