New York state judges began hearing a case Tuesday on whether Syracuse investment group could file a $600 million lawsuit against multi state marijuana operator acreage holdings and other companies over medical marijuana licenses. The lawsuit was originally filed in 2018, accusing acreage and others of depriving the investor group epmmny of 25% of its rights and management role in the operation of nycanna. The lawsuit also has a potential impact on the agreement of canopy growth to acquire acreage. Epmmny is said to be seeking to prevent canopy from obtaining a New York license. Acreage is a leader in the potentially huge marijuana market in New York and has one of only 10 vertically integrated medical marijuana licenses.
