Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, Sen. John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock have seen sales of specialty pre-rolled cigarettes laced with cannabis concentrates boom in Canada's mature adult cannabis market as consumers embrace the high-potency, ready-to-use form of cannabis. Cooper Ashley, analytics manager at Seattle-based cannabis analytics firm Headset, said the growth in cannabis pre-roll sales is "the most significant growth in the cannabis industry in the last year or two because it's growing so fast and it's so big." Immersion pre-rolls are an upgrade to regular pre-rolls, combining cannabis flower with cannabis concentrates (e.g., vaporizer, resin). Pre-rolled cannabis remains the second largest recreational cannabis category in Canada after flower. In September, imbibed pre-rolls accounted for 19.2 percent of total cannabis pre-roll sales in Canada's four major markets, up from 2.4 percent a year earlier.
