Industrial cannabis growers who lost their crops during natural disasters in 2021 and 2020 are eligible to receive $6billion in relief from the new fund through the United States Department of agriculture. A new emergency rescue plan was announced on May 16 to offset the loss of crop production and value. Commercial crops such as industrial cannabis meet the conditions. The disasters covered by the fund include: high winds, silt and debris directly caused by floods, and drought. In a statement, agriculture minister Tom Vilsack said: "over the past two years, farmers and ranchers across the country have been severely hit by persistent epidemics and more frequent and catastrophic natural disasters.". The USDA said it would calculate the initial payment based on available data from the federal crop insurance program or the uninsured crop disaster assistance program.
