News on the official website of the European Commission on November 15: according to the data released by the European Bureau of statistics, the total agricultural output value of the EU in 2020 was 414.1 billion euros, a year-on-year decrease of 1.1%.
The total agricultural output value of France is 76.3 billion euros (accounting for 18.4% of the total output value of the EU), ranking first among Member States, followed by Germany (57.6 billion euros, accounting for 13.9%), Italy (56.9 billion euros, accounting for 13.7%), Spain (52.3 billion euros, accounting for 12.6%), the Netherlands (28.2 billion euros, accounting for 6.8%) and Poland (26.4 billion euros, accounting for 6.4%).
Agricultural output declined in 11 member states. Romania (- 11.3%), Malta and Bulgaria (- 4.5%), Finland (- 3.9%), Hungary and the Netherlands (- 3.1%). In contrast, the highest increases were Lithuania (+ 8.6%), Ireland (+ 4.6%), Slovakia (+ 3.8%), Latvia (+ 3.1%) and Cyprus (+ 2.8%). Among the agricultural powers, the total agricultural output value of Italy, France and Germany decreased by 2.3%, 1.9% and 1.6% respectively, while that of Spain increased by 1.1%.
EU crop and animal production decreased by 1.0% and 1.1% respectively. The EU's agricultural input cost decreased by 1.1% year-on-year, resulting in a decrease of 1.3% in the total added value of agriculture.
