The Ontario police department (OPP) confirmed that it was investigating major data breaches affecting more than 1200 regulated marijuana stores in the province. It is revealed that Ontario's legitimate adult marijuana wholesaler and government operated Ontario marijuana store (OCs) have lost a lot of data in at least one month, so Ontario's marijuana retail industry is in trouble. The leaked data include the sales of each marijuana store in the province in 2021, the name of the store, their respective license numbers, the number of kilograms sold in the current month, the number of kilograms sold per day, the total number of units sold, the total stock at the beginning of the month and the sales completion rate of each store. Stores expressed concern that the leaked information could increase security risks because the public can calculate the daily inventory of each store.
