24 US senators push for marijuana banks to be included in the competitiveness bill

Negotiations are under way between the US Senate and the US Senate to bring the marijuana bill into the US Senate. The letter, signed by 19 Democrats and 5 Republicans, advocates the inclusion of the safe bank act into the final version of the Competitiveness Act. The U.S. House of representatives had previously included security banking in its version of the U.S. competition act, but the Senate did not include marijuana banking reform in its version of the U.S. innovation and competition act. Safe banking will enable financial institutions to provide services to state legitimate marijuana businesses without fear of federal retaliation. "This will help ensure that legal marijuana companies do not have to operate all cash - a reality facing thousands of small businesses across the country, with business owners and employees facing continued threats of robbery and attack."
